Mothers’ Union

Mothers' Union

What is the Mothers’ Union?

The Mothers’ Union (MU) is a Christian charity organisation that has been supporting families worldwide for over 140 years. The founder, Mary Sumner started it in 1876 in her local parish, and it has now grown into an international charity with over 4 million members in 84 countries.

The MU works towards stopping poverty, stopping inequality and stopping injustice.

Membership brings hope and practical support to millions of people every year through parenting, literacy and community development programmes.

Who can be a member?

Despite the name - Mothers' Union, it is an inclusive organisation and members are not all mothers or even all women, as there are many parents, men, widows, singles and grandparents involved.

We live in an ever challenging world and becoming a member of the Mothers' Union is helping to be part of something life-changing for those in need.

How do I become a member of St Saviour's Church Mothers Union?

Our enrolling branch lead is Dorothy who is at St Saviour's Church most Sundays and can also be contacted by email via hello@stsavioursbb.org.uk

When and where do you meet?

We meet at St Saviour's Church, in the Parish Suite on the second Thursday of the month from September to June (no meetings July & August) at 7:30pm. Meetings tend to close around 9pm.

What can I expect?

You can expect a very warm welcome and refreshments.  We often have guest speakers, learn a craft, we usually have a summer evening outing, a Christmas Party, and we hold our AGM in January and have a Jacobs Join and quiz.

We look forward to welcoming you.
